Volume, floors, distance, packing and timing: six factors that shape a moving quote, plus comparison tips.
Quotes for the same flat can differ by anywhere from 15,000 to 35,000 TRY. Much of that gap comes not from quality but from scope and hidden line items. Here are the main factors that set home moving prices in 2026.
1. Volume of belongings and home size
The base of the price is the volume to be moved. The same three-bedroom flat can mean 20 m³ for someone with sparse contents and 35 m³ for someone with plenty of books and furniture. That is why reliable companies quote on the volume they see at the survey, not on room count. On average, same-city prices are 11,000 – 16,000 TRY for a two-bedroom flat and 15,000 – 22,000 TRY for a three-bedroom flat.
2. Floor and elevator status
Every floor without an elevator increases time and crew effort. Moving out of a fourth floor with no elevator typically adds 2,500 – 4,500 TRY. If the building entrance is narrow or the truck cannot pull up, a mobile exterior lift comes into play; depending on floor height it adds 3,500 – 7,500 TRY.
3. Distance
In same-city moves distance has little effect; between cities, vehicle, fuel, bridge and motorway tolls and crew accommodation set the cost. For a 500 km move, budget two to three times what the same belongings would cost within a city.
4. Packing, disassembly and assembly
Taking the packing service adds 15% – 25% to the total, depending on home volume. If you pack yourself we supply the boxes and packaging, but liability for fragile items may be limited.
5. Timing
Month ends, June through September and weekends are the busiest periods. Prices rise 10% – 20% then; you can save by choosing weekdays and mid-month.
6. Insurance
Standard liability insurance is included. An extra policy for valuables charges a premium of about 0.3% of the declared value.
Sample budgets
- Within İzmir, three-bedroom, third floor with no elevator, packing and assembly included: about 25,000 – 31,000 TRY (incl. VAT).
- İzmir to Istanbul, two-bedroom, with elevator, assembly only: about 40,000 – 49,000 TRY (incl. VAT).
- İzmir to Ankara, five-bedroom villa, packing and insurance included: above 95,000 TRY; the exact amount is set at the survey.
These figures are for information; the result changes with different item counts and building conditions.
What to check when comparing quotes
- Make sure the quote is written and fixed, and whether VAT is included.
- Check that floors, elevator, packing and assembly are itemised.
- Ask about the liability insurance limit and the damage notification period.
- Find out whether the company works with its own vehicles and staff or with subcontractors.
